No this isn’t a post about my appearance or to show off my new hair but about my experience(s) of having my hair cut.
I was actually going to post it yesterday on the day I actually got my hair cut but I got distracted and forgot (go figure)
Hair cut day has always for me been a real stress point and there are so many factors as to why that is!
- What style should I have
- How do I ask for the style
- Are the collection of photos I have too much
- What if they tell me it looks silly
- What if I don’t like it
- It is loud in the hair dressers
- The lights are bright and it smells
- The feeling of hair being cut is strange
- The clippers are noisy
- The hair on my shirt irritates my back
- Small talk sucks, these people are not my friend, I just want my hair cut
- The list goes on, but as I have gotten older and had my hair cut more and more some of these things have become less of a personal issue, but some I still absolutely hate hair on my shirt scratching against my skin it can only be described as hell.
- Small talk is the other one, most of the time I have nothing in common with the barber, I don’t like football or sports so that is that conversation avenue out of the window so end up making up small talk about what you’re doing on the weekend…urgh
How do you cope with the hairdressers? Do you find it stressful? Do you have your own ways of managing the process?
Finally, if you’re a hairdresser, maybe be mindful that not everyone is an outgoing lads lad even though they try hard to appear to be one in the barber shop (mask)
Thanks for listening
